Fundy Mud Reflections

Painted on the same early June day as my cliffside study of Clarke Head, this piece looks out across the massive expanse of the Bay of Fundy at low tide.

If you’ve ever stood on these shores, you know how mesmerizing the vastness can be. The water recedes for miles, leaving behind a glistening labyrinth of wet sand and tide pools that catch the light like a mirror.

While the sky was a cool, hazy northern blue, the wet flats below gave me the perfect excuse to play with my favorite palette. Look closely and you’ll find soft violets, muted ochres, and subtle sand tones dancing across the foreground. It’s a quiet, peaceful view of a place defined by its wild, dramatic shifts.
