About Rose daRosa

Artist Statement

My journey as an artist transformed when I moved from the studio to the outdoors. Painting en plein air allowed me to connect more deeply with nature, capturing its fleeting beauty in real time. Each piece is rooted in the landscapes around me and reflects the emotional and spiritual resonance I find in the natural world.

I aim to convey the serenity and joy that plein air painting brings into my life, inviting viewers to share in these moments of tranquility. My art is not merely a depiction of nature but an invitation to experience it through the lens of emotional connection.

Rose's Bio

Art Is In Her Blood

Born in Montreal, Canada, Rose was introduced to the art world at a young age by her father, Eduardo daRosa, an artist himself. Self-taught in the suburbs of Montreal, Rose developed an early fascination with color and emotion through her father’s work, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for painting.

Formal Education and Worldly Travels

Rose’s formal art education began at Wexford Collegiate Institute in Toronto, where she dedicated half her studies to the fine arts. She further honed her skills at the Ontario College of Art, splitting her time between Toronto and Florence, Italy, before earning a prestigious Tuition Scholarship from the Alliance of Independent Colleges of Art in New York City. A Grant for Excellence in Draftsmanship from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation in Montreal, Canada, further enabled her to study in Florence, Italy, deepening her craft and artistic vision.

From Studio To The Great Outdoors

After years of success as a studio painter, exhibiting internationally across Europe, Canada, and the USA, Rose felt the solitude of the studio was stifling her creative spirit. Seeking a more dynamic and engaging artistic experience, she transitioned to plein air painting. Although she’s a city dweller at heart, this shift brought a renewed sense of joy and purpose to her work, allowing her to connect directly with the landscapes she portrays.

Paintbrushes and Prius

Burnt out from her corporate job in 2020, Rose made the big move from Chicago, IL to Miami FL. During what was the height of COVID she found solace on the beach at 5 am with just her and her canvas.

In 2023, she took her practice on the road, traveling across the western United States in a Prius and capturing the diverse beauty of the American landscape.

“Feeling the space between my cells relaxing, I was able to engage with people in a deeper, more creative form through Plein Air painting”.

She continues to refine her craft through mentorship and workshops with esteemed artists like T. Allen Lawson, Manon Sander, Kari Ganough Ruiz, and Mitchell Albala.

Her paintings are held in private collections worldwide, including in Germany, Portugal, France, England, Switzerland, Canada, and the USA. Rose daRosa’s work is a testament to her lifelong commitment to art, capturing the beauty and tranquility of the world’s landscapes with a masterful and emotive touch.
